Every Fabled Framing display is built by hand, from raw materials to the final frame. Here's a look behind the scenes at exactly what goes into the production of your frame

Cutting the Mount

We start with the mount, the board your cards actually sit against. A bevelled cut is taken around the front piece, giving it that clean, angled edge you see framing the cards rather than a flat border. Behind it, we cut a second board shaped to hold your card sleeves securely in place, so nothing shifts once it's sealed. The two boards are joined with double-sided tape, giving you a single, rigid mount holding the cards from the back and displaying them from the front.

Building the Frame

While the mount is being machine cut, we're cutting the frame itself, four lengths of wood, mitred and joined at the corners to the exact size your order needs. Every frame is made to measure, so it fits your cards precisely even if you have an obscure layout or card size.

Cutting the Glazing and Backing

Next comes the acrylic, cut to size and on every order, UV-protective, so your cards stay shielded from the kind of light exposure that fades ink and yellows plastic over time. Behind the mount, we cut a board of MDF to act as the frame's rigid backing, keeping everything flat and supported once it's sealed shut.

Fitting the Hanger

Before anything goes into the frame, we fit a hanger to the MDF backing board. Using a press fix this is placed in the middle of the backing board ready for you wall. Many people like to use alternative nail free hanging methods but it is always there if you want it.

Bringing It Together

This is where the frame actually comes together. Working from front to back, we layer the acrylic, then the mount boards, then the MDF backing, placing all three into the frame as one stack.

Sealing the Back

The last step is securing everything in place with flexi points, small fasteners driven into the inner edge of the frame that pin the backing board firmly against the mount and glazing, with no gaps and no rattling. Once those are in, the frame is complete and ready to be checked over before it ships.

You Receive Your Frame

Once your frame arrives, open the back, slot your cards into the provided sleeves, and fit them into place. Peel the protective film from both sides of the acrylic, then it's ready to go straight on the wall. Your cards, finally displayed the way they deserve to be.

From the first cut of the mount to the final flexi point, every frame we make goes through the same process, no shortcuts. It's the reason a Fabled Framing piece holds up as well on your wall in five years as it does the day it arrives.
